The Wilmington Railroad Museum salutes its volunteers for their dedicated service. In 2012, volunteers amassed a total of 7, 898 hours to promote the Museum’s services and programs.
In addition to maintaining and showcasing North Carolina’s largest museum model train layout, volunteers greeted guests, led tours, organized library resources, read stories to little visitors, provided special touches for holiday shows, staffed events, and more.

How about a visit to the Wilmington Railroad Museum?
The Wilmington Railroad Museum has a great collection of displays that are fun and educational.
On the FUN side are a Thomas the Tank Train play area, more than 20 operating scale model trains, spectacular model layouts, and a real life-size caboose, boxcar, and 100-year-old steam locomotive.
Educationally, we trace the development of railroads in the Wilmington area as well as the careers of famous people who were involved with railroads, such as Thomas Edison and George Pullman
This year make someone's special day lots of fun by celebrating a birthday at the Wilmington Railroad Museum. ~~ WHAT OUR VISITORS SAY ~~
Our “Memory Book” gives visitors an opportunity to log in with their own memories or connections to railroading The following are some comments we've received.
Our 3-1/2 year old son is fascinated with trains. We had no idea of the magnitude of his excitement as we drove in and he saw the trains. What a wonderful and magical Museum this is. Hope you can continue to grow.

This is a great Museum. We have been to museums in Sacramento CA, Scranton PA, and England and this one ranks well with them.
